Notice "um/uma" and "dois/duas" change with gender — um livro (one book) but uma casa (one house).

Fun fact: in Portuguese, most weekdays are literally numbered — "segunda-feira" means "second fair/market day," a leftover from an old religious calendar. Only Sábado and Domingo (Saturday and Sunday) have their own names.

Because "uma hora" is singular — only "one" o'clock uses the singular verb; every other hour uses "são."
